One of the first reviews completed for the final chapter of Snake was produced by OPM for the UK, or better known as the official PlayStation Magazine for the United Kingdom. To no ones surprise, they gave it a solid 10.

"Every question posed and loose end dangled since Metal Gear first introduced stealth gaming to the world in 1987 finds closure here."

Within a week, a trailer and 3 TV spots for MGS4 have been released. Konami has certainly been busy bees. Out of the 4 medias, the "Courage is Solid" trailer would have to be the most appealing to MGS fans. More locations, more characters, more details, more everything crammed into a remarkable voice-overed 2 minute trailer. If you don't plan on purchasing MGS4, then this trailer will quickly change your thoughts into a sudden urge.

With the remaining medias, 2 of the 3 TV spots show some basic gameplay footage reflecting off the PS3. It's nothing really special that we haven't already seen from the Assassin's Solid trailer and the 15 minute gameplay demo. The other TV spot is a commercial staring Solid Snake consuming some Regain.

Bizarre footage has reached the internet that many gamers may find hilarious. The footage is a trailer for an 'altaired' version of MGS4, with Solid Snake being replaced by Altaïr (main character from Assassin's Creed). As the footage progresses, Altaïr is attacked by a Gekko, revealing himself to be Solid Snake. What on earth is going on you ask? Well all you can say is, April Fools from Mr. Hideo Kojima!

It's true, Konami are producing a new MGS: Digital Graphic Novel for the PSP. The storyline will be based off their 2001 PS2 game, MGS2: Sons of Liberty. It's also going to focus equally on Raiden's as well as Snake's views during the Big Shell events. Unlike the game, it was mostly Raiden's view. Again, like the prequel, it will feature the same unique and eye catching illustrations from Ashley Wood. As well as that, this one will have full voice acting!

We all know that Snake is being featured as a character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but I was actually kind of shocked at this. Nintendo actually using something from one of their rival's upcoming games.

Nintendo put Snake in because he got his big start with the company, so I was expecting some music from the older games, but I was surprised with this.

Konami's slot in the Tokyo Game show was yesterday, but even now new information is arising. It seems that Konami's Tokyo Game Show website has Metal Gear Solid 4 scheduled for a Winter 2007 release on the Europe and North American versions of the site. Does this mean an early simultaneous release or is it simply a site mistake? This could be the break every Metal Gear Solid fan has been hoping for after its release date being pushed back earlier this year!

"War created these ugly beasts, but beneath, they are gorgeous women." - Hideo Kojima

The latest MGS4 trailer to hit the gaming world was shown at the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. The trailer amazed the audience with the arrival of a new batch of bosses named, "The Beauty and the Beast" Unit. The members of this unit are composed of: Crying Wolf, Laughing Octopus, Raging Raven and Screaming Mantis.

The trailer explains that these beasts of war weren't always like this, but were beautiful women that had severely suffered shellshock from the battlefield. As the result, they were encased in these mechanical suits so that they may cope with the reality of battle.

Hideo Kojima later revealed in a conference that this unit was based on real life beauties from around the world. He also stated that this is a first for the Metal Gear series to use motion capture equipment to transfer real people into a game. The models that were used for these beasts are, Lyndail Tarvis, Scarlett Chorvat, Mieko Rye and Yumi Kikuchi.

But the question is, 'How do you translate Snake's experience into a full arc that conforms to what audiences expect on the large screen?'"

  Jan 27 2007 - MGS4 Pushed to 2008?

In IGN's PlayStation Predictions: 2007 Edition article, they believe that MGS4 will be delayed to 2008. Here is what it says:

"It's the news that nobody wants to hear, but after a hell of a lot of development time already, Hideo Kojima will delay his highly-anticipated final chapter of the Solid Snake story so that it can receive "more fine tuning" -- particularly in the online multiplayer department. I expect to see it pushed back to a Q1 or Q2 '08 release in Japan, while the American and European debuts are held back until quarter number 4.

Sadly, nobody at Kojima Productions or Konami Digital Entertainment will break the news to anyone until late in the summer or beyond."

Though, it's to be reminded, that this is simply speculation and has not been confirmed in any way by Kojima himself. We'll just have to wait and see if this turns out to be the truth.

Recently, the previous rumour that Metal Gear Solid 4 was going to be ported onto the Xbox 360 seemed to pick up heat, and a lot of sites started to report it. One of the first to heat up the rumour was the website Noooz who a couple of days ago reported:

Earlier this week, the information of Metal gear's non platform exclusivity was imparted to me by way of a dev source close to the team who cannot be named by pain of death. It's coming a few months later than the PS3 game, but it's happening folks.

With an inside source, it really didn't look good for Sony who had recently lost other exclusives such as GTA IV and Assassin's Creed.

The story was quickly taken up by joystiq, CVG and 1UP.

Although it was quickly debunked by Konami who came with the following statement (to CVG):

Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time.

The statement itself caused even more speculation as to whether or not the final three words meant that it may appear on the Xbox 360 eventually or not. Many different sites and magazines have come up with different theories. Microsoft fans love the news and welcome it with open arms, where as Sony fans hate it, and refuse to accept it.

What's the truth? Unfortunately, I can't be sure and neither can the next person, not unless we hear it from the horses mouth. However, in an interview with Kojima about MGS4 in EGM of this month, it mentioned how the 25GB of space of the Blu-ray was actually being filled very quickly with HD graphics, voice overs and gameplay. If the interview is anything to go by, it may actually be hard for them to port over the game to a new system without compromising on the quality of the game.

Lies, rumours and assumptions are ripe at this moment, and with no comment from Konami, we're left to guess what Konami will do...

Kojima Productions and Konami have today announced the official release date for the upcoming PSP title, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. The game will now be launched on North American shelves on the 5th of December!

Plot Information - Set in 1970, six years after the events of Operation: Snake Eater, the FOX unit has become corrupt, taking over a military base in South America, where a new prototype weapon based on the Shagohod is being developed. Big Boss, a former member of the unit is convicted in conspiring with the revolt. In order to prove his innocence, Big Boss goes on a mission to hunt down the remaining members of the FOX unit and assist in the establishment of FOXHOUND and assume leadership of it.

Kojima Productions has surprisingly announced that the Japanese servers for Metal Gear Online are scheduled for indefinite shutdown by the end of this year. You may be surprised to know that this isn't the first but the second country-wide server shutdown for Metal Gear Online, the first to experience this were the Koreans on October 2nd. Whilst there has been no official word on the matter yet, speculation amongst fans suggests that North American servers will suffer the same fate sooner or later.

To prevent unexpected disappointment, Metal Gear Online fans have gotten together and created a petition to either prevent this server-shutdown from happening or for Kojima Productions to make the Metal Gear Online hosting tools available for public use in effort to keep MGO up and running. Please take a moment to click the link below and sign the petition if you do not want MGO to waste away.

We now have the 6-minute gameplay trailer of Metal Gear Solid 4 that premiered at this year's Tokyo Game Show! All footage is 100% new, and gives us our first glance into the gameplay of MGS4. Cinematic camera angles were used for visual and presentation purposes, but all of it was shot while somebody was actually playing the game! Not only do we get to see many instances of the amazing Octocam, but also some new techniques that Snake has learned along the way! There is a lot more to learn from the trailer, and some surprises that raise even more questions. So what are you waiting for?

Also at TGS, Hideo Kojima has revealed an interesting tidbit about using 'real people' in the game. 3D models of real people are going to be placed in the game via the use of 3D capturing. Kojima said that we will understand the use of real people in the game when the game is released. One theory people have come up with, is that since the Playstation 3 is going to have a High-Definition Eye Toy camera, players will be able to map their faces on to character models for online play.

We will have more information soon, but until then, enjoy the trailer and the new screenshots we just uploaded!

Liked the first Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel? Well, Hideo Kojima just recently revealed that another one is in the works for the PSP! This time, the story will be based upon Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and will once again feature artwork from the talented Ashley Wood. It was also stated that while Raiden was the main character in MGS2, Solid Snake will appear just as much as him in the comic, which is great news for those who disliked his rookie counterpart.

Neither the official release date or name have been announced, but expect more details soon!

Konami has released a few new details about the upcoming MGS: Portable Ops for the PSP. When you progress through the game, you'll be able to recruit multiple different types of characters to your squad, such as unique and special non-playable characters. Each of the characters will have their own attributes, and will be able to help in different types of situations.

With the wireless capabilities of the PSP, you'll be able to locate and download characters based on the unique IP address contained in all wireless hot spots. You don't need to log on to the hot spot, just need to locate a wireless access point to recruit the character. You'll also be able to take these characters into an online battle.

The "White Flag" system will be used in the multiplayer modes, where you can rather give up and live to battle again, or to fight to the death, where you risk losing one of your comrades permanently.

The single-player story follow the events after MGS3: Snake Eater in 1970 with Big Boss in prison to discover his FOX Unit has started a revolt in South America. Chacters such as Major Zero, Para-Medic, and Sigint will also be involved in the story that is canonical to the MGS timeline.

The game will also feature fully-voiced cinematics by the same voice-actors from Snake Eater. The cinematics will feature original artwork by Ashley Wood, who also worked on MGS: Digital Graphic Novel.

MGS: Portable Ops is scheduled to release this winter for the PSP.

In the latest issue of Famitsu, Hideo Kojima releases some interesting details regarding the newest iteration in the Metal Gear Solid series.

First off, Hideo Kojima says this is indeed the end for the story. All mysteries are to be revealed, and Solid Snake may die in the end as we were told he would in the newest trailer. We also saw many characters make an appearance in the trailer that previously had major roles in the series, and Hideo says nearly all the characters from the previous games will make an appearance in some form.

Making a return from Snake Eater, we will again have a camouflage system, this time titled "Octacamo". In the trailer, we saw Snake's suit blend in almost instantly with his background. Hideo goes further in-depth with the system, saying that if Snake was standing in front of a wall with holes, it would appear as if he had holes in him too. He states with the technology of the PS3, they can replicate these types of changes, creating a far more advanced camouflage system.

Not only that, but MGS4 will also have online play. "The Online in subsistence was just the preparation for 4," Kojima states.

Hideo Kojima has already mentioned that a MGS movie has been confirmed in a recent HIDECHAN! Radio session. But, at this year's E3, Konami created a mock-up version of the E3 Newsletter (picture) featuring Konami's upcoming games and handed it out after the Konami press conference. It featured a blurb on the side about the MGS movie, Kojima stated: "I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement. False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood."

    No other information was revealed.

Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel is an unique experience, it's an adaption of the MGS comic book translated onto the PSP, with some interactive elements. The panels are displayed on the screen one at a time, so you can carefully read the text, because no voice-overs will be implemented into the game. You can also pause or speed up the panels. Just because there's no voice-overs, doesn't mean there's no sound - there's plenty of sound effects, such as gun shots.

One of the interactive elements is the scanning interface; where you press the Scan button at any time, and then you move a targeting reticule and look for hot spots on the comic panel. And when scanned, it'll be entered into a database, which you'll be able to look at. These include certain events/memories from Shadow Moses.

The Digital Graphic Novel will hit shelves in North America on June 13 exclusively for PSP and will be available for $19.99 (US).

Kojima Productions officially announced a brand-new MGS title at E3 - a true MGS action game for the PSP. It'll continue the story from Snake Eater and follow Big Boss' depature from the FOX Unit and the creation of FOXHOUND.

Its visuals are quite close to that of Snake Eater, but with a smaller polygon count. The gameplay is squad-based this time around, where you will control a group of soldiers. Big Boss will not be the only playable character; Para-Medic, Siginit, and Major Zero will also be playable. It's also possible that Ocelot, EVA, and Raikov could be playable as well. Cinematics will feature voice-overs from all the characters. A new feature introduced in the game, is the "White Flag" sytem, where you can choose to surrender and live to fight again or fight to the death until the next game begins. It also features the brand-new 3D camera that was introduced in Subsistence.

The game will also feature online, with the ad-hoc (play wirelessly) and infrastructure (across the Internet) modes. The online modes work similar to that of Subsistence. A new feature is the addition of a sound radar system which appears on-screen. Basically, when you're running around and making noise, the middle section of your radar scambles. And when other players are doing the same, the sound waves will show where it's coming from. Another thing added is the person who is in first on their team gets the Kerotan frog above their head, which croaks every few seconds; which will put the best player at a disadvantage, but will help out everyone else.

MGS: Portable Ops is expected to be released at the end of the year, around the 20th anniversary of the release of the original Metal Gear.

You no longer have to wait longer for a Metal Gear Solid game on the PSP, as this week on HIDECHAN Radio, Kojima has given us the first details as to the next Metal Gear Solid game slated for the PSP.

  • Set in the MGS universe, this will be the direct sequel to MGS3.
  • We will see Big Boss return to the scene as he tries to form FOXHOUND in the 1970's.
  • An action game, you will be playing once again as Big Boss controlling a squad of soldiers in the battlefield.
  • No more continuation option, dieing will mean you need to restart from your last saved point.

In the latest HIDEOCHAN! Radio session, a full 3 minutes of audio was revealed. In the previous audio leak, it was just Snake and Campbell. But in this one, it also features Liquid, Meryl, and Naomi! Again, it's in Japanese but has been translated:

Snake: "War has changed. Nations are no longer about ideals; the profits are no longer for the people, mercenaries for the highest bidder, construction of unmanned weapons, and an endless cycle of proxy wars. The wars that claim lives have changed into a business with no rational for pain. War has changed. ID registrated soldiers, possessing ID registrated arms, using ID registrated weapons. Nanomachines within their bodies manage ability growth, as well as promotions. Genome control, information control, emotional control, battlefield control. Everything is managed and regulated. War has changed. The times have shifted from deterrence to control, and with that the catastrophe of Weapons of Mass Destruction has been evaded. With the control of the battlefield possible, so then is the control of history. War has changed. With the controlled management of battlefields, war has become an omnipresent thing."

Campbell: "This improves the military results even further. As a result the so called Big Boss's ideal land will be restored."

Liquid: "Free yourself from the bonds of fate. Brother! We are free!"

Snake: "Were the armament of the PMCs overlooked?"

Meryl: "A perfect control management system has been introduced into the PMCs and the military."

Naomi: "Soldiers with nanomachines in their bodies are not allowed to point their guns at their clients."

The audio can be downloaded here.

The MGS4 logo has been revealed and is quite a drastic change from the previous logo used for MGS2 and MGS3.

The 15th session of the Kojima Productions Report is all about the 90-second audio preview of the upcoming MGS4 E3 trailer. It features a conversation between Snake and Campbell, but the voices are in Japanese. But, here's the English translation of it:

Snake: War has changed. Our time has ended. Our war is over.

Campbell: Since the Manhattan incident, restrictions on military intervention in foreign countries have eased, fueling demand for mercenaries. Today, the world's wars depend largely on PMCs, private military companies whose businesses include supplying these mercenaries. PMCs have become a serious threat to the world.

Snake: The US has exported too much of its military power. Now she's paying the price.

Campbell: In total, they've got enough manpower to rival the US military. Based on our investigation, the five largest PMCs are run by a dummy corporation, which acts as a single mother company.

    Snake: And the mother company?

    Campbell: Outer Heaven.

Snake: The one world in which soldiers will always have a place...

      Apr 20 2006 - Next-Gen Audio: MGS4

The PlayStation 3's power will be able to enhance the experience of games with its incredible audio, and will make MGS4 a much more immersive experience. The original PlayStation could only handle 24 voices; the PS2 could handle double that, 48; and now the PS3 will blow that away, with an amazing 512 voices! Meaning, more sounds can be going on at once, such as gun fire, background music, explosions, dialog, cars screeching, and even more. The PS3 will also be able to handle up to 256MB of sound memory, while the PS2 could only have 2MB.

MGS4 sound director, Sotaro Tojima, says, "be surprised by the quality of sound coming into their ears--the sound will react to their conditions in the 3D world like never before."

It's also noted, if you're planning on getting the PS3 and MGS4, that you should have surround-sound support, to get the most out of your next-gen titles. As well as a 7.1 or 5.1 surround system to go along with that.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, a PS2-exclusive expanded release of Hideo Kojima's powerful and dazzling Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, has today hit the shelves in the US. But what about the UK and Europe? Will we not get MGS3: Subsistence? I've prepared this mini-FAQ in attempt to answer all your questions.

When will the game be released in the UK and Europe?

September 2006. Konami has told retailers that the game will be available in September, some major retailers are already taking pre-orders from the game, such as GAME and Play.

    September!? Why!?

The game would have been launched earlier in Q2 of this year, but the game has been set back due to the Platinum release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, in order to make the Platinum version more profitable Konami have decided to release MGS3: Subsistence in September.

    Platinum version of Snake Eater?

It's literally the same game as Snake Eater, only upgraded to the Platinum level for recognition of the game's success. Konami will make one final attempt to make more money out of MGS3: Snake Eater before releasing Subsistence. The Platinum version of the game will however include a bonus disc - MGS Saga DVD Vol. 1, Hideo Kojima reveals some interesting facts in this bonus DVD.

Will there be a Limited Edition version?

No details are yet available on whether there will be two different versions or not.

Hideo Kojima has been quite interactive and open with his fans, by having his own blog - HIDEOBLOG - where he would talk about the progress of MGS4, other MGS info, and just about himself. Well now, he's taking it to the next step - an audioblog called HIDECHAN (Hideo Channel). The English version is hosted by International Manager for Kojima Productions and director for the upcoming Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1 DVD, Ryan Payton.

Also, Kojima states in Session 002 of The Kojima Productions Report that Uwe Boll is not working on a MGS movie. Which is fantastic news, because I'm sure every MGS fan did not want Uwe Boll directing a MGS movie.

      Jan 26 2006 - Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1

Konami visited San Francisco with its annual Gamers' Day event, which means: lots of Metal Gear news. They'll be updates on Metal Gear Acid 2, MGS3: Subsistence, and the MGS digital comic for the PSP. Lastly, Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1.

We all know that Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence was going to be full wonders from the moment that it was announced, and if MGS2: Substance was anything to go by, we also knew that it would bring many new features. However, with all the news that we have been given regarding Subsistence, there was a surprise that Hideo had kept from us, untill now, and that surprise is the Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1.

The disk will carry out the seemingly difficult task of bringing all the Metal Gear's together and making sense of the storyline, a task which many fans have tried to do but have failed. The DVD will be split up into five chapters over 30 minutes long and will start from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, followed by Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, and end with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (in chronological order storywise).

The Extra's DVD will feature many more extra's and should be available by pre-ordering the game around mid-February.

You can also check out the official site for Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1 which features clips from the DVD.

Konami visited San Francisco with its annual Gamers' Day event, which means: lots of Metal Gear news. They'll be updates on Metal Gear Acid 2, MGS3: Subsistence, and the MGS digital comic for the PSP. Next up is details on the North American release of MGS3: Subsistence.

Along side the already known improvements to Snake Eater such as the new third-person camera option, and a fully featured online competitive mode, we now know for certain that there will be a limited edition third disk available with the first batch of the game when it is released. This brings good news for fans that were worried that the 3-disks would be a Japan-only feature.

If you want to get your hands on the third disk containing all the cinematics of the game, cut into a movie-type DVD, then you will need to hurry and get the limited edition packs when they are released.

MGS3: Subsistence hits stores exclusively for the PS2 on March 14, 2006 (North America) and sometime in March 2006 for Europe.

Konami visited San Francisco with its annual Gamers' Day event, which means: lots of Metal Gear news. They'll be updates on Metal Gear Acid 2, MGS3: Subsistence, and the MGS digital comic for the PSP. Next up is news on the MGS digital comic.

We learned earlier of a mysterious MGS PSP project from Kojima Productions, called Metal Gear Solid B.D. - a digital comic book. And now, we learn more about it.

The Metal Gear Solid Digital Comic will feature artwork done by Ashley Wood, who has done work for the Spawn and MGS comic books.

Ryan Payton, international manager of Kojima Productions says, "MGS Digital Comic goes way beyond just clicking through scanned comic book pages. It provides an involved interactive experience as players must investigate the MGS story, link together plot points, and complete the puzzle of the Metal Gear narrative through multiple play throughs."

The release date and price for this product are currently unknown.

Also, some new content that will be available in the North American version is MGS4-specific cards, such as the Solid-Eye System, and Otacon; though it's unknown what their functionality will be.

A few weeks ago we learned of Metal Gear Solid B.D. for the PSP (click here for article) and now Hideo Kojima has mentioned another MGS game for the PSP, this time via his online blog. The working title of the game is just currently "Metal Gear Solid PSP". Kojima says the game will have a "completely new gameplay system" that is only possible on the PSP. Nothing much is known about the title, since it's in very early stages of development. It should be very interesting to see what this new MGS game will be like for the PSP, since it will be like nothing we've seen before.

The February 2006 issue of the Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine (OPM) includes lots of goodies in regards to the Metal Gear franchise.

First off, the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer from the Tokyo Game Show of 2005 is included on their disc. This trailer comes in full, consisting of the discussion on the Cell Processor between Otacon and Snake, which has often been removed from most trailers found on the Internet. This is a must-buy, even if you have it downloaded on your computer. The trailer is crisp and equipped with subtitles, and nothing is quite as nice as watching it on your own TV.

Second, there is a massive three-page interview with Hideo Kojima. What is more interesting is that the interview has nothing to do with Metal Gear at all, but is specifically about Hideo himself as a person. It is a fantastic read, revealing an interesting look into him that may not always be found on his blog.

Finally, there are six pages devoted to MGS3: Subsistence and Metal Gear Acid 2.

Nothing new is revealed on Subsistence in particular. The article just discusses how much an improvement the controllable camera is, along with some information on the hidden Rumble Roses characters. Every character in Metal Gear Online has their own special move, and their's is supposedly a suplex.

In between the articles on Subsistence and Acid, is a tidbit from their interview with Hideo Kojima, discussing Raiden in his current roles, and his future one in MGS4.

The article on Metal Gear Acid 2 discusses the inclusion of the "real-time" aspect, along with the new "Arena" mode which lets you fight bosses from previous Metal Gear Solid games, including Ocelot and Vamp. Defeating these tough bosses will earn you special cards. It also goes more in-depth on the "Solid Eye" device that ships with every game. Placing this device on top of your PSP will initiate "Theater Mode", which lets you watch movies such as the MGS4 trailer, or short movies of 3D girlie magazines, which you can unlock with various cards. The article is followed by a page fully devoted to some beautiful screenshots of the game.

The confirmed release date for North America is March 14th, while the day is still unknown for Europe, but will also be out in March.

First they announced that MGS3: Subsistence would include footage for MGS4, and Kojima Productions have once again announced more information for one of the most anticipated PS3 titles, Metal Gear Solid 4... this time for the PSP users.

If you were thinking of buying Metal Gear Acid 2 and weren't sure, here's another reason to buy the game: Konami will be adding a 3D trailer of this next-gen title to MGA2.

The company has revealed that the trailer will be directly on the game's UMD disk (it may very well be an unlockable trailer, although whether it is or not, is currently unknown). By using the included 3D viewing goggles, fans will be able to get a '3D' view of the game.

More details will come here, as they are announced.

IGN.com (and other popular North American websites) have teamed up with Kojima Productions and Konami Digital Entertainment where you'll have a once in a lifetime opportunity -- the chance to have your very own card in the North American version of Metal Gear Acid 2.

From all the cards submitted by fans to the various websites, ten cards will be chosen as the finalists by the IGN editors and they will submit them to Konami and Kojima Productions and they will choose the ultimate winner. All ten finalists will have their name appear on their designed in-game card in addition to winning a free copy of Acid 2 for PSP.

Here are the rules, which are very important.

      1. Users must choose a name for their designed card (example: Running Man, FAMAS, Cyborg Ninja, etc.)

      2. Users must choose their card info (example: User's Life +2--, Move 6 BLK, etc.)

      3. Cards must have a Metal Gear or Kojima Productions theme (no Rumble Roses, Penny Arcade, George Bush, or anything else unrelated submissions will be accepted.)

      4. Card cost and descriptions must be realistic (No "Kills all opponents" or "Move 18 BLK cards" type portrayals.)

      5. Users should ideally submit an image file for their original card along with their descriptions (original Photoshop images, piecemeal Windows Paint images, and photos are okay.)

      6. Users should ideally choose their card type (example: Character, Weapon, Item, etc.)

All submissions must be received by 11:59 PM (Pacific Standard Time) on Sunday, November 20.

To submit, follow all the rules above and send your submission (with telephone number, mailing address, and full name) to mga2contest@ign.com with the subject line "Metal Gear AC!D 2 contest". You must be 13 years-old or older to participate. IGN will contact you should your submission be selected to move on to Konami's selection round.

MGS3: Subsistence is already packed full of extras, but Konami will be including a video of Metal Gear Solid 4 on the limited edition of Subsistence. It will be included on the third disc, called "Existence", which also includes a three and a half hour edit of MGS3's cinematics. It's unknown whether the video of MGS4 will be the already released TGS 2005 trailer or something brand-new. Sadly, as for as we know this will only be available in the Japanese version of Subsistence which releases on December 22nd of this year.

There has been no word whether the North American version will include this bonus. If we hear anything, we'll let you know.

There will be a number of modes included in the multiplayer, such as: deathmatch; team deathmatch; a capture-or-defend game type called rescue; capture the frog, which is pretty much like capture the flag, but with those MGS3 frogs instead of a flag.

In the online multiplayer, you'll be able to use all of Snake's moves that you can in the actual game, such as snaping necks, CQC, the cardboard box, etc. With these type of gameplay elements, it makes the online experience much more unique. You'll also be able to use the new third-person camera view which works like most third-person action games - you'll use the right analog stick to move your viewpoint around. The control scheme is just like Snake Eater's single player, so the controls will feel very familar.

Before each match begins, a selection screen will come up where you will pick your primary weapon (shotgun, submachine gun, sniper rifle, assault rifles); side arm (silenced pistol, tranq gun); and peripheral item (grenades, a girly magazine). All of these weapons/items will be familar from Snake Eater. If you run out of ammo, you can resort to CQC (close-quarters combat) which works exactly like how it did in Snake Eater; you'll have to equip a side arm to use it. You'll be able to perform all the moves Snake does.

Online stages include: Graniny Gorki Lab, Svyatogornyj East, Krasnogorje Mountain, Lost Forest (new), Ghost Factory (new), Kill House (new). Plus several other stages.

MGS3: Subsistence will be out exclusively on PS2 in early 2006.

Acid 2 will be played with a special peripheral called the "Solid Eye" -- which looks like a set of binoculars that matches the PSP's body color. What this does is that you'll be able to see portions of the game in 3D. The peripheral will come packaged with the game, no worry about having to buy it separately.

The storyline for Acid 2 will not follow the original; it's completely new. It will feature Snake infiltrating a military faction, where he discovers the existence of a new Metal Gear. The game will also feature a new heroine named Venus, who has long, blond hair and a red costume.

Acid 2 will also have a new feature -- where players challenge each other via the PSP's built-in Wi-Fi connection. Each player will control two characters for strategic battling, as in the game's single-player mode.

The gameplay has also been tweaked a bit. This time, you'll be able to move Snake over one square at a time in real-time. Also, this time when you've moved your character to a new location, you'll be given the option to confirm the move immediately, or you can switch to the interface with which you change direction.

Metal Gear Acid 2 for PSP is slated for release in Japan on December 8, 2005; and an American release on November 15, 2005.

GameSpot visted Konami to get some details on all the new Konami games coming out. One of the games they got some new details on is the upcoming expanded, repackaged version of Metal Gear Solid 3 which will be released this holiday season for the PlayStation 2 for $49.99. The game includes the full version of MGS3: Snake Eater, as well as new game features, the first two Metal Gear games, and, in a first for the series, several online modes.

Eight players can participate in the game's five online modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Sneaking Mission, Capture Mission, and Rescue Mission. Online play will take place in stages from Snake Eater and in new, original levels, such as "Small Forest," "Downtown," and "Abolition Factory."

In Sneaking Mission, one player (as Snake) will attempt to steal an object guarded by the others, while Capture Mission pits two even teams against each other to capture the object. Rescue Mission adds a further twist by requiring one team to deliver the object to a certain location while the opposing team attempts to destroy it.

In addition, GameSpot added 18 brand-new screenshots! Take a look! GameSpot also gave their impressions on the online mode, you can read that here.

Here is the interview EGM did recently with Hideo Kojima.

EGM: Good job on the MGS4 trailer. Funny stuff.
Kojima: Thanks. Japanese people didn't get it, even my own staff.

EGM: "No place to hide concept". Does this mean stealth is thrown out the window?
Kojima: Not really. Stealth will still be in the game. The concept is shown in the trailer (when the wall falls down on Snake). No safety zone. Environments will always be changing.

EGM: We noticed several hints in the trailer...butterfly and a bird...
Kojima: Yeah, there's some hidden meanings there...I wanted to go against buzz about new hardware and great graphics for next-gen. I wanted to lighten the mood with this trailer and make people laugh.

EGM: MGS2, you went to NYC. MGS3, went to a jungle. Going anywhere to research MGS4?
Kojima: Tricky answer, can't say it because it'd give it away. But here's a hint: it's very difficult to get there. I want to show psychological fear in MGS4, like when you point a gun at someone with mental fear. This is what real combat is and I want it in MGS4.

    EGM: MGS4 subtitle?
Kojima: We have many but haven't chosen one.

EGM: Will you be totally hands on on MGS4?
Kojima: Sorta. This time, the game will be the product of 3 people instead of just one. New way of producing MGS.

EGM: Can you reveal secret info on MGS4?
Kojima: Trilogy is done, so we have to make a new story. Strong story in background but not created in same way (cinema, action, cinema, action). Utilize environment itself to tell the story this time...action less localized. In the past, Snake always had to infiltrate a fortress or field. In MGS4, that'll change in some way, giving a new experience of sneaking in.

      Jun 15 2005 - MGS4 to be PS3-exclusive

Speaking to Famitsu, Hideo Kojima, revealed he has no plans to bring the Metal Gear Solid series to any next-generation platform other than Sony's PlayStation 3.

"Metal Gear Solid 4 is only scheduled for release on the PlayStation 3 at the current time," he told the Japanese game magazine. "Of course we could port it to other consoles, but doing so would require additional staff and research and development costs. If I were to make games for the Xbox 360 or the [Nintendo] Revolution, I'd rather create original titles that match each console's audience, instead of the Metal Gear Solid series."

Hideo Kojima also gave his impressions on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. He said that the PlayStation 3 is setting the technical bar very high. While, he thinks the Xbox 360 is much more accessible from a development perspective. He couldn't comment on the Revolution, since most of its hardware specs are still a mystery. "As a developer, I see the three consoles as different kinds of meals," said Kojima. "The PlayStation 3 is a sumptuous feast for special occasions; the Xbox 360 is a fine Sunday dinner; and the Revolution is a rich, home-cooked supper."

The brand new Metal Gear Solid 4 website by Konami is up and running now, and gives some very interesting insight into what we can expect. Solid Snake, Ocelot, Meryl, Vamp, and Otacon are all returning. Another character that is not confirmed yet, but whose picture is on the website, looks to be none other than Big Boss himself! How this is possible, no one knows yet, but hopefully some details will be released soon. There is also another unconfirmed character, on the far right of the character set-up. Some people are thinking it may be Naomi, from the original Metal Gear Solid for the Playstation One. There's also sites up for MGS3: Subsistence and Metal Gear Acid 2.

Last night during Sony's pre-E3 press conference, Konami announced that Metal Gear Solid 4 for the upcoming PlayStation 3 is in development. They also announced two brand-new Metal Gear Games -- Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for PlayStation 2 and Metal Gear Acid 2 for PSP. There were also teaser trailers for each one of these games. No specific release date has been give for any of the three titles.

From the MGS4 teaser, we learned that Hideo Kojima will be back as Game Designer, Producer and Director for MGS4; as well as Solid Snake will be back as the main character. By the artwork picture released, it looks like the other characters are Vamp, Meryl, Raiden, Ocelot, and Otacon; while the last two characters are questionable. The game will be set in a future world after the events of Sons of Liberty, and will also include an online battle mode.

MGS3: Subsistence will include a ton of extras. Such as: online multiplayer action which will support 6-8 players and will include two modes -- Snake vs. Enemies, where multiple players hunt down one opponent and Team Battle with multiple players fighting cooperatively. Demo Theatre, which will allow you to view all the amazing MGS3 cinematics. Duel Mode, where you consecutively play through all the boss battles. New Snake vs. Monkey levels. A new, more traditional third-person camera angle (ala Splinter Cell). And lastly, it will include ports of the MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

And lastly, Metal Gear Acid 2. The sequel to the PSP card-battling game will feature Solid Snake as the main character, a more visually stylish game than its predecessor. It now sports a cel-shaded, anime-style graphics and will also feature one of Metal Gear's biggest villians -- Revolver Ocelot.
