Dog Tags (MGSTS)

You get these from guards when you hold them up, and some bosses have them too. To get them off guards, get near them and aim your gun at them (the SOCOM or the M9 work best). Then, Snake will shout "Freeze!" and the guard will put up their hands. Move in front of him (hold B to move with your weapon aimed) and go into first-person view. Point your gun at either their head or their crotch, and they'll shake, dropping their dog tags and sometimes other stuff.

Some dog tags are quite tricky to get, and you don't just get them by holding them up. Also many guards (though their numbers may be different) have the same pattern on different difficulty levels. So if you know how to get them on one difficulty then you'll know how to do it on another. So, because of that it'll only describe how to get the same type of guard once, in the earliest difficulty that he shows up in. These "tricky dog tags" with descriptions on how to get them will appear under the normal list of dog tags for specific difficulty levels.
