The following is a list of all the items you can obtain in Metal Gear, along with their descriptions.
[edit] Ammunition
Refills ammo in your Handgun, your Sub-Machine Gun, your Grenade Launcher, and your Rocket Launcher.
[edit] Antenna
Allows you to use you transceiver in places where there is electronic jamming.
[edit] Antidote
Used to cure you of any type of poison.
[edit] Binoculars
Useful to see one screen up, down, left, or right of your present location.
[edit] Body Armor
Cuts damage taken by bullets in half.
[edit] Bomb Blast Suit
Protective gear that protects you from explosions.
[edit] Card Keys
Cards 1-8 are used to open a door with the corresponding card number that you have.
[edit] Cardboard Box
Hide in the Cardboard Box from guards or use to transport you to different places.
[edit] Cigarettes
Used to detect laser traps.
[edit] Compass
Used to make your way through uncharted territory.
[edit] Flashlight
Used to see in dark places.
[edit] Gas Mask
Doubles your O2 gauge and causes it to decrease slower. Useful to protect against any type of gas.
[edit] Infrared Goggles
Used to see where laser sensors are in a room.
[edit] Iron Glove
Allows you to locate hidden doors by punching various walls.
[edit] Mine Detector
Will display the location of mines on the screen.
[edit] Oxygen Tank
Same as the Gas Mask but used underwater.
[edit] Rations
Regenerates Snake's health.
[edit] Uniform
An Outer Heaven guard's uniform. Put this on and the guards will think that your one of them.
