Shadow Moses is an island in southwest Alaska which was taken over by the Genome Army in the Shadow Moses incident.

The nuclear disposal facility there was a site used to hold and develop Metal Gear Rex

Shadow Moses features as an Act in Metal Gear Solid 4. The Island, given the Next-Gen treatment looks absolutely astounding and is really a landmark in showing how far games have come in recent years. Snake finds himself back on Shadow Moses to try and stop Liquid getting the rail gun from Metal Gear Rex. He isn't quick enough, and after fighting a horde of suicide Gekko while Raiden kills Vamp, he gets outside of the disposal facility which is being destroyed by suicide Gekko. There, he fights Liquid Ocelot, who is using Metal Gear RAY.

[edit] Other incarnations

Shadow Moses was also the basis for S3 or The Big Shell Incident, which was a real life simulation by the Patriots. Shadow Moses Island also appears in the Nintendo Wii game Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
